30th SEPTEMBER LUKE MANGAN’S GLASS BRASSERIE TURNED BLUE TO
HOST BLUE SEPTEMBER’S OFFICIAL ‘BLUE TIE’ LAUNCH!

On 30th August 2001, Luke Mangan’s exclusive Glass Brasserie Restaurant hosted the official launch of Blue September 2011. The night was a huge success, with a mix of celebrities, campaign sponsors and media, enthusiastically supporting the call to ‘face up to cancer in men’ by getting their face painted blue for the campaign.

The guest list was extensive, with a mix of high profile personalities all turning out to support the cause. Amongst those going blue were Tim
Mathieson, Mark Holden, and restaurateur/host for the night Luke Mangan.

Mark Holden, who recently received the all clear from his own cancer battle, spoke from personal experience about the motivations for him to support the campaign each year.

One of the many highlights of the evening was the Father’s Day raffle which gave the guests the opportunity to further support the campaign by donating $10 for a ticket into the draw to win a $500 Fletcher Jones voucher. Each entrant received a pair of Fletcher Jones Blue September socks and a Blue September lapel pin. The lucky winner was none other than Bowel Cancer representative Dr Cameron Bell.

It was a rewarding night for everyone involved, especially the people working hard behind the scenes to establish Blue September, with the ambition of really making a difference to men’s attitudes and their health.

These included David Brettell, CEO of the Australian Cancer Research Foundation, Dr Cameron Bell, on behalf of Bowel Cancer Australia and Blue September Director Mike Chapman, who all spoke about how Blue September is truly making a difference.

The night was a huge success. Special thanks must go to Luke Mangan for providing his restaurant for the night and the delicious canapés menu.
