A series of fund-raising activities will be held at Officeworks Rutherford this month to support men's health.
The store is taking advantage of Blue September, a national awareness and fundraising initiative for research into men's cancer and to help men reduce the risk of developing the disease through the promotion of better lifestyle choices.
0fficeworks will launch their campaign on Friday and offer blue face painting and a variety of children's activities in return for a gold coin donation on Saturday and Sunday.
Customers can donate to the cause during September at the checkout and through their participation in a range of activities held in-store.
Store manager Nicky Johnson encouraged people to support the events and said Officeworks was proud to help men with cancer through Blue September.
"Everyone knows someone affected by cancer," she said. "If we can encourage our male customers and team members to get a check-up and think about making healthy choices that can only be a good thing."
Team member fundraising events will also be held during September to help employees show their support for men with cancer.
Funds raised will go to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and Bowel Cancer Australia.
Australian Cancer Foundation CEO and Blue September representative David Brettell said many male cancer deaths could be prevented.
"With over 22,000 Australian men dying of cancer each year, Blue September promotes prevention through a healthier lifestyle and encourages men to face up to cancer," Mr Brettell said.
"We're grateful that Officeworks is on board and taking donations to help find a cure for a disease that affects so many Australian men and their families."
The NSW Cancer Council encourages men to be aware that prostate cancer is often advanced before any symptoms are evident and said it was important for men to undergo screening for prostate cancer.
