4 WAYS TO KEEP THE MAN IN YOUR LIFE CANCER-FREE
Scary, but true: men are twice as likely as woman to die from cancer. The good news is that one in three cases are preventable, which is why we're getting behind Blue September, a campaign that aims to raise awareness about the types of cancers that affect men. To find out how you can get involved, visit au.blueseptember.org. Also, here's what you can do to help him improve the odds.
1. TAKE HIM TO THE DOCTOR
Book him in for a check-up when you go for yours. Men visit their GPs less than women, often missing vital health checks that can pick up the early signs of serious diseases.
2. BUY HIM A COOL HAT
Men are more likely to develop skin cancer, as they spend more time outdoors and wear less protective clothing.
3. MAKE A VEG-HEAVY MEAL
A healthy diet full of fresh fruit and vegetable has been linked to cancer prevention, but 88 per cent of men eat less than the recommended daily intake of vegetables.
4. GO FOR A WALK
Extra kilograms have been linked to some cancers, and guys are more likely to be overweight than women.
