The Melbourne Victory team have dressed themselves in a different shade of blue to support men’s cancers for the national awareness and fundraising campaign, Blue September.
Captain Kevin Muscat and his team have all purchased blue Van Heusen shirts from shirtcentral.com.au as $5 from each shirt is going directly to the Blue September beneficiaries, the Australian Cancer research Foundation and Bowel Cancer Australia, for cancer research.
The boys are Blue September ambassadors and appear in the Blue September Community Service Announcements, which are airing national this month. It was on the shoot for the CSA when Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat heard about how Van Heusen are supporting the campaign through donating $5 from every shirt sold at the Shirt Central website and he made sure the other boys got behind the promotion by buying a shirt. Melbourne Victory are continuing their support of Blue September this Wednesday 15th September by highlighting the campaign throughout their game against Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park in Melbourne.
AAMI Park will be lit a dazzling blue for the evening and activities will include blue face painting, the Bl
ue September CSA shown on the screens and an interview during halftime with Blue September spokesperson and TV personality Mark Holden who has recently gone through his own battle with cancer.
