Without a Trace actor Anthony LaPaglia and his actress wife Gia Carides are
getting blue for cancer in men.
Gia painted her lips blue and scattered blue kisses over her husbands face, something that could mean the ‘kiss of life’ for many men.
“Girls sit around and talk about their pap smear or breast check, but men tend to be more reluctant when it comes to their health checks and it could cost them their life.” (Gia Carides)
Worldwide, deaths from cancer are much higher in men compared with women.
In Australia, 22,000 men die of cancer annually, and in theUKstatistics reveal that
men are about 70% more likely to die from cancer than women.
“I think a lot of men try to avoid talking about cancer and getting checked – I know
avoided getting checked for a long time but then realized it was not a wise thing to
do. Putting blue paint on my face is me facing up to cancer in men, and I think it’s
time all men faced up.” (Anthony LaPaglia)
